Quantum physics or woo-woo quackery? What if they are one and the same? oooh, bet you never thought about that before! Have you heard of the double-slit experiment? It is fascinating! It fits so well with what we are diving into today at House of Dulce! Today we’re talking about how and why integrating mindful spaces into your living environment is essential for nurturing a harmonious and empowering manifestation process.
Mindful spaces within your home, such as meditation corners or serene reading nooks, serve as sanctuaries of positive energy, promoting clarity, focus, and inner peace.
How does this tie into the double-slit experiment?
Well, essentially the experiment is about atoms. Moreso, how atoms behave while being observed vs. not. The way this ties into creating mindful spaces at home is twofold. 1. In the double-slit experiment, the behavior of particles changes when they are observed. Similarly, in creating mindful spaces at home, the act of consciously observing and being aware of your environment can transform your living experience, AND YOU KNOW THIS TO BE TRUE! I mean coming home to a beautiful clean home is way different than coming home to chaos and 2. In the double-slit experiment, the act of observation itself influences the outcome. In creating a mindful space, your awareness and intention can also have a transformative effect on your environment.
When you have a calm, organized, and aesthetically pleasing space, you’re not only shaping the physical environment but also allowing space to support focused thought toward your emotional state and overall well-being. This is our goldmine and what we’re diving into baby!
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you create mindful spaces within your home, from beginning to end.

Step 1: Setting Your Intentions
Begin by setting clear intentions for the mindful spaces you wish to create.
It is so easy to get stuck in what you don’t want. “I don’t want to come home to dirty dishes every day” I don’t want to come home to an unmade bed” Yes, nobody does. To help reframe these “don’t-wants”, dissect them! Don’t want dirty dishes, that means clean dishes and a clean sink, correct? That’s what you do want!
Now, consider the specific purposes of the spaces we’re looking to create—whether it’s for meditation, reading, journaling, or simply finding tranquility. Reflect on the feelings and emotions you want to experience in these areas, such as calmness, inspiration, or relaxation. Why are you creating these spaces, what do you want to observe?
Step 2: Choosing the Right Location
Select an area within your home that feels conducive to mindfulness. Look for spaces with natural light, minimal distractions, and a sense of privacy. Ideally, these areas should be quiet and away from high-traffic zones.
If you’re single and/or don’t have roommates, this might be simple, but if you do, try to find a place away from the distractions. It could be a simple nook in your bedroom. Just anywhere at all where you can be with yourself. Just you and mind.
Step 3: Declutter and Simplify
Clear the chosen space of any clutter and unnecessary items. Simplify the decor to create a serene and uncluttered atmosphere. A clean and organized environment fosters a clear mind and supports your mindful practices.
You don’t have to go all out and invest a ton of money into this. It is super accessible to anyone and everyone! The picture below shows the easiest thing to do. throw a nice blanket on the floor, some cushions for comfort, and check it out; it’s a nice space to read, relax, expand the mind, and grow.

Step 4: Mindful Design Elements
Again you don’t have to purchase anything new or think you need everything on this list before you can have a “mindful space”. However, consider these design elements that encourage mindfulness and tranquility:
- Natural Elements: Integrate nature-inspired decor, such as indoor plants, natural wood, or stones. These elements bring a sense of grounding and connection to the outdoors.
- Soft Textures: Use soft and cozy textiles like plush cushions, rugs, and throw blankets to create a comfortable and inviting atmosphere.
- Subtle Colors: Choose calming and neutral colors for the walls and decor. Soft blues, greens, and earthy tones can induce a sense of peace and relaxation. If you have a bright-colored room, this doesn’t mean running to the paint store and painting your room, but perhaps dim the lights and light a nice candle!
- Mindful Artwork: Display artwork that evokes mindfulness and positive emotions. Nature scenes, abstract art, or inspirational quotes can all contribute to the ambiance.
Step 5: Comfortable Seating
Incorporate comfortable seating options, such as a meditation cushion, a cozy armchair, or a cushioned bench. Choose seating that supports good posture and relaxation during your mindfulness practices. For my reading space, I have these chairs from World Market in Grey, I absolutely love them!

Step 6: Personal Touches
Add personal touches that resonate with you and create a sense of emotional connection to the space. This could include meaningful decor pieces, photographs, or items that hold sentimental value. If you want to bring your vision board as a focus point because it helps your focus, go for it! Remember that what you focus on expands!
Step 7: Mindful Tools and Props
Depending on your chosen mindful practice, include tools and props that enhance your experience. For meditation spaces, you may want to have candles, incense, or a meditation timer. For reading nooks, ensure you have a comfortable reading chair and a collection of your favorite books.
Have everything handy to facilitate what you’re trying to accomplish in the space, including pens and a journal if this is what you’ll be doing!
Step 8: Mindful Rituals
Develop mindful rituals that you can incorporate into these spaces. For example, start and end each meditation session with a few deep breaths or a moment of gratitude. Establishing rituals helps create a sense of routine and signals to your mind that it’s time for mindfulness.
What do I love to do? I’m so glad you asked! I love lighting sage and palo santo before I meditate, it just gets me in the mood and allows me to call on my intentions! And add some nice subliminals while doing so? Uff. Chef’s kiss.
Step 9: Regular Maintenance
Keep your mindful spaces clean and well-maintained. Regularly declutter and refresh the decor to ensure the space remains inviting and conducive to mindfulness. It could be as simple as making your bed every morning. My bed was my meditation space for a long time!
It doesn’t have to be hard, it doesn’t have to be complicated. All you need to do is decide and make the choice.
Step 10: Daily Mindful Practice
Finally, make it a habit (it won’t be hard since you’re going to love to be there) to visit these mindful spaces daily, even if only for a few minutes. Engage in your chosen mindfulness practice regularly, whether it’s meditation, reading, or simply taking a moment of stillness to connect with your breath.
Just like in the double-slit experiment, you are observing and therefore changing the future outcome into what you want. It’s all accessible, you just have to knowingly create it. It all helps in connecting your current reality with the reality you want to create.
