This post is all about habits you need to quit!
1. The Habit of Self-Doubt
Self-doubt is such a hindrance and in my opinion one of the worst limiting beliefs out there. It’s natural to question yourself, but when self-doubt becomes a habit and your first go-to initial response, it limits your potential. If the questions that you’re asking yourself are those questions that won’t lead to your desires, you are asking the wrong questions.
If you ask yourself instead great questions, the universe will provide answers and solutions to those great questions.
For example, you see a beautiful home. Exactly the home you picture in your mind’s eye when you think of a beautiful home. If your first thought is “No way I could ever afford that home”, you are exactly right! You won’t. But if instead, you ask yourself “How can I afford that home” or “What can I do to afford this home”, guess what, you’re giving your mind a task to find those answers, and the Universe begins to unfold to provide a response!
Start each day with positive affirmations, and challenge any and all self-doubt with better questions. Know that there is nothing you have to do to be worthy of your desires. You were born worthy. Remind yourself of that innate worth and capabilities.
Keep a journal to track your accomplishments and talents.
2. Playing the Comparison Game
The comparison game. You know exactly what I’m talking about. When you see someone enjoying life, having things you want, and you can’t help but compare yourself to that person. I think anyone else would say “Hey, just unfollow so and so”, but I want to do is invite you to reframe your thoughts.
What if instead of comparing yourself to what they have that you want, you realize that that person having what you want means it is possible for you to have it too? Notice these things as an opportunity for you.
Focus on your journey, yes, but take (let’s say in this instance it’s a car you really want) so and so having that car that you’ve always wanted as inspiration for what’s possible for you!
Celebrate your unique qualities daily, and know that you have what it takes!
3. Procrastination Paralysis
Procrastination! We have to wonder why we procrastinate on even the smallest, most simple tasks sometimes. It is not because we are avoiding the task, but rather we are avoiding the feeling associated with the task. So ask yourself what feeling you are avoiding.
If for example, you notice a pattern of always avoiding that prospecting session that you said you would do, it might just be that you’re avoiding confrontation, or maybe objection, rejection even! The same is true for all procrastination. You’re not avoiding the task, but the feeling associated with the task. Dig deep and ask yourself why. Shadowwork is definitely necessary in tackling procrastination!
4. Negative Self-Talk
This is a topic that I have been actively working on myself. We really can be so harsh in the way we talk to ourselves, and sometimes it is automatic, without thought. I started really noticing that sometimes when I would make very simple minimal mistakes, I often said out loud (even), “Ugh I’m so stupid”. Now, being the subliminal mind nerd that I am, I realized I was just feeding that directly into my subconscious!
As I said, I am actively working on this now, and you can too! Know that first of all, you are nothing less than the ultimate greatness of You.
Any thought that attempts to disempower you is not your own. Catch it as it’s happening, and reframe that sucker into an empowering statement! Be your biggest cheerleader! And get yourself around people who also know your worth! Additional cheerleaders never hurt anyone!
5. Overthinking Everything
Overthinking can paralyze your decision-making. Think about what would feel good to have done, and decide to go out there and do it. If it lights you up and makes your soul dance, then it’s meant for you. Go out there and get it and don’t stop to think about reasons why you can’t and shouldn’t, (keep in mind I don’t mean get into debt and buy the really expensive purse today and don’t pay your rent) if it is in alignment with your soul, the Universe will conspire in your favor. This is manifestation at its finest baby!
Know, without a shadow of a doubt that you are being divinely guided and your success will happen. It is inevitable. Take those big steps!
Trust yourself as the co-creator of your life; you’ve got this.
6. Clinging to Comfort Zones
Comfort zones feel safe, but they limit your growth. If you are called to be a writer but you’re holding back because you’re worried about not being a good enough author, or you’re worried the feedback won’t be good, stop! Embrace discomfort and stop expecting to be the best at something you’ve never done before! Stop expecting perfection and know that as you embody and play the role of that which you hope to be, you become that which you hope to be! Notice the progress that you make.
Put just 1% effort into improvement and commit to trying something new every week, even if it’s small.
Reflect on how stepping out of your comfort zone benefits your personal growth because it does!
7. People-Pleasing
Saying “yes” to everything and everyone can drain your energy. It’s time to prioritize your needs so that you are able to show up as the rejuvenated, full-of-energy version of yourself that can truly make an impact.
Practice saying “no” when it aligns with your priorities.
For example, if you’re taking on clients that are draining your energy, or not paying your worth just because they’re paying clients, this is a scarcity mindset that you need to overcome. Know that you can and will attract clients who are willing to pay your prices because they value the knowledge you bring in the way only you can bring it.
Surround yourself with people who respect your boundaries.
